After some of advice regarding my grill. When I bought my Golf there were no badges on the grill and I was told it was a de-badged grill but there are a couple of holes which look like they could hold a badge so I purchased a MK1 badge in hope it would fit but the clips are no where near similar to the holes? Is this a genuine grill and I've got the wrong badge or is it a de-badged aftermarket grill?
I've added some pictures below of my grill and the badge I bought and a grill I've seen for sale that I'm thinking of buying if its the one I need?

You have a genuine looking grille, The badge you bought is from a later car, my Polo's from 1985 onwards had similar fittings. The One you want is like the picture of the grille you want to buy, they have 'prongs' which fit through the two holes in the grille and then clips behind i think to hold it in place.
BTW, when you do finally get what you want, first of all paint the two metal supports on the slam panel to matt black, its how they left the factory, not body coloured as most people who have done a restoration leave them.
if you look at the picture of these you will see what I mean about the fixings - eyewateringly expensive though! Try posting up a Wanted ad.

Cheers for clearing that up Richard, Ah okay that's good to know where that badge is originally from, I also have a Polo GT Coupe 1991 and now you've said that it is extremely similar to the one on that.
Yeah I thought it was that badge now I've looked into it properly, I actually found the same badge on ebay earlier. Yeah they are very expensive and I've also found the clips too but they're only cheap from what I've seen.
Ahh now that makes sense I will do! I thought it stood out a abit too much and yep the car has been resprayed so that will be why it's white.
Yeah I was thinking about putting up a wanted post I'll put one up now Thanks again!
