Going to give up my Secret to a shiney engine...

Post

Over the years, I have on occasion gone to a car show, and there and on forums I have been asked how do I get my engines and bits so Shiney, including the rubber bits.  They look shiney, aren't oily when folks touch them..

So My Secret is using 3 things.

1 bottle of son-of-a-gun protectorant (like Armorall but better, cause I have had Dry rot with Armorall.)
1 Fine misty Spray bottle, Mistier the better, no large droplets.
1 gallon of Distilled water.

Shake the bottle of protectorant, shake it well…
Pour  into your spray bottle 1/2 full of protectorant.
Pour into your spray bottle 1/2 full of Distilled Water.
Cap the bottle, and shake the bejeezers out of it.

Open the hood of your clean engine (cold engines).
Spray the mixture in a fine mist every-where you can see.
Close the hood when finished, and let set overnight.

Open the hood in the Morning to a nice dry shiney engine bay, no waxing needed.
It lasts for about a month….

It also helps to start with a pressure wash of the engine bay, scrubbing the grease out of it.  But I suppose it will make a dirty engine shiney at least.
:)

Top tip, it does look good.

I don't think we can get 'Son of a Gun' over here though, so not sure of the alternative.

Well over here we have a bunch of armor-all like things.
I usually look for one that is UV resistant and won't dry-rot.

I just figured yall would have it over there or something similar…
