First cry for help

Hi everyone,

I am having a issue with the temp gauge. I have been reading up about others issues but mine seems a bit different.

Here goes, So the cars been parked up for a few days and the other half drives to work on Thursday (about 3 miles). So on his way home, a mile from work, the temp gauge starts flashing so he naturally pulls over and has a look. No leaks and it's not over heating as it's been parked up whilst his been at work all day so nothing obvious. He starts the car an the temp gauge has returned to normal, not even half way at this point. Gets home fine, so thought maybe a glitch!

Today comes and the same issue but more consistent. Every time you turn the engine off it sorts itself out but 5 mins later it's flashing again:ocf_emoticons__BangHead::ocf_emoticons__BangHead::'( Check
ed coolant all good, just under max! Connectors have no obvious damage.

Any help will be appreciated :thumbs:Thanks

Just in case you go mad looking, not all the cars had this fitted. But good call though

Cheers,

I had that problem light flashing like you cleaned terminals, I checked with a circuit tester
all seemed OK,but after checking with a VW main dealer the 2 pin switch that screws into
the coolant bottle has an inbuilt resistance.
So changed switch with a new one  no more flashing light.

This is some great info, thank you. Just phoned the other half to tell him and got abused as although there was enough coolant but it was just above min line. Since topping it up to max, it's stopped the problem :$  :$  :'(  :P  now I know why I get called a blonde bimbo at times lol. :offtopic:

I really appreciate you all taking your time to help me
