Dash light for headlights?

Post

Back to the top
On my 1984 mk1 cabby gti, when is the little blue dash meant to light up - only when using full beams (stalk pulled back), OR when using main headlights for normal night driving? Are there any orher dash indicators to say the front lights are on?

Sorry but couldn’t find a definate answer. My blue light on the dash isn’t working and understand its an mot fail if you have a picky tester!

The dash and interior lights are on when the side/head lights are on. If you can't see how fast you are going you need to turn the lights on.

The blue 'LED' is for mainbeam only.

See to fix;

Dash light for headlights?

Yes sorry the dash illumination and switch lights etc all work fine.

My question was, aside from when the full beams are on, are there any other lights that are meant to come on in the cluster itself when using sidelights/dipped lights or does a warning light only come on the dash when full beams are on.

My 205 gti has cluster illumination and also a light symbol that comes on when using dipped beams.

If just when full beams then it looks like my bulb has blown so the link to fix it is great.

Is that an mot fail for a picky tester?

If dash illumination works thats the same has having a light symbol. Dash lights on, headlights on.

Lack of a mainbeam tell tale is a MOT failure.
