Correct rear badges for 84 cabby - HELP NEEDED !!

I am currently restoring an A Reg 84 Mk1 Cabby GTI.

Does anyone have any reference as to which are the correct rear replacement badges?  I have seen many 84 cabbys with the VW roundal badge and many that have the old style volkswagen badge and no roundal, with the older style GolfGTI badge.

But which is correct?

I have replaced the boot hatch so need to decide which way to go as I will need to fill and paint the existing holes as the boot lid is from an 87 mk1.

Here you go Warren. My boot lid was a newer version than the rest of the car as it too had the holes for the roundall. They were filled.

The roundall wasn't used on the '84 Cabby.

Thanks Dano,Thats perfect. I will have to fill the holes on my later boot lid and stick on the earlier version badges.Do you happen to know the correct spacings?Cheers 

Measured mine before it went in for some body work issues…

The Volkswagen badge was 20mm in from the LHS edge and 38mm up from the edge above the lights.
