Had a little 1.1 golf C cross my path.
It's had two owners from new inc the current owner.
53,000 miles on the clock.
But only has the first two years of it's service history as the current owners husband serviced after that.
It's just passed MOT couple days ago no advisories.
It's fitted with a BBS front and rear spoiler from factory I'm told so I'm not sure on the model edition as such. Plus has body graphics.
It's reasonably solid few dings, dints etc but can't see much rust. It's going to need the interior doing as the drivers seat is gone really badly.
Any ideas on a value would be appreciated.

If you got it for £1600 that would be a fair price based on your description.

I thought £500-800 myself as it's only a 1.1 not a GTI or higher spec.
It's only a base model.
Ive seen the big figures thrown about recently and wonder if the market will sustain that.
I'll try and upload some pics.

There are far less small engine MK1's as well as 5 doors than GTI's.
The values have started to go up, you can still pick them for £500 but the condition will reflect that.
A standard well looked after non GTI will continue to go up in value as the GTI's are becoming stupid money.

It can only be what you think its worth to you and how badly you want it.

Maybe I missed something but what year is it?
Also I'm not aware of VW doing those BBS extras from the factory but I could be wrong!

Depends what work needs doing ….but prices seem to be strong at them moment so i'd say if its cheap enough buy it ….Can sit for a while and wouldn't loose value

Those massive rubber bump strips, have devalued it by £1000 I reckon.

Well it doesn't look that bad does it.
But the drivers seat and somewhat the small hole in the carpet don't seem to match up with the mileage!
Those big rubber protectors low down with golf written in them I'v seen before here in Austria a few times.
Only on 3dr models from around the 83 mark and low spec. So there might have been a run out spec like that at sometime but I don't remember one.
So it all depends what the bloke is looking to get out of it at the end of day!
I'd say around the 800 mark or even a little higher if I new where I could source a good drivers seat at a fair price.
But you've seen it in the flesh and it's what your gut is telling you mate.
I'd love to get my hands on it for that over here if it was LHD!

The hole on the carpet was by the high heels the lady was wearing when she drove it.
The wear on the seat I've been told is because she had her seat pushed really far forward so she squeezed in and rubbed the rear back rest.

There's a crease down the door. Passenger wing is bashed a bit. I was told it was all factory fitted bumper etc as there's also a rear tailgate spoiler on the back BBS marked.

It's an 84.. Does that make it a run out model as it has the longer series 1 tail lights.
But has a twin headlight grille.

Okay, it all fits if you want it to but I'm really not convinced about the BBS extras thrown in.
You might remember I was selling them then but that certainly doesn't mean I remember!
I guess VW UK might but that's a challenge I guess.

The current owner got the car when it was 2 years old just. So it was like that fitted.
I'm sure I've seen the same model on Facebook and it was the same fitments.
Hmmm interesting

I'm not saying it's not the real deal but I not sure.
Remember this, the Mk2 was out and selling like hot cakes, waiting lists were as long as a kidney replacement on the NHS.
GTi's much longer!
As main dealers we had no problem selling the Mk1 GTi's, Cabby's etc… but at the other end of the scale it was very hard to shift the stock.
Don't forget all the MK1 owners who could afford a new car were beating a path to our door to PX theirs for a Mk2, we could fill a football field with used ones.
So we would do lots of our own specials and if a dealer near us did one, we'd do the same or give ours more, it was a war.
We'd chuck anything on them to get them out the door!
The worst was if we took an order for a Mk2 GTi, VW would make us take at least 1 or 2 low spec Mk1's before they would commit to a build date.
If you said no then it could be up to 6 six months and then that might be pushed back.
They didn't take kindly to no!
