AP racing coilovers or shocks and springs

Post

I've finally settled on a brand, initially because they supplied springs with pretty much the drop I require but since then I have read very good things about AP suspension in general.

They are designed by KW and built in the same factory (the facility is 1.7 miles long though) and apparently their coilovers are also very good for the price to the point I am now questioning which kit to purchase

The 30/60 shock and spring kit or the coilovers

Does anyone have any experience of either?

I had ap's on a Mk1 and a Mk2.

They were ok on the Mk2, but I got rid of them on a Mk1 as they were too solid…. I do however drop all my coilovers to their lowest setting as standard.

Roach you're the first person to tell me the AP coilivers are too hard.

I wonder if the mk1 is just to small and light a car to wear coilovers.

I had a B5 passat years ago on very cheap coils but it rode quite well.

I assume they are still a lot better than most budget coilovers? I.e the supersports that I currently have?

I think the Mk1 struggles in general with coilovers and ride.
Hence the need for damping adjustment and a large budget.

Ap's were rubbish on my Mk1. Good in my Mk2. And excellent on a friends bora.

Same for supersports, I loved them on a Mk2 I had.

Buy my bc's. :)

I've had ap coilovers on my mk1 for a short while, miles better than the cheap ones I had on , but it does not ride as good as my mates fabia vrs with ap coilovers on it, or my corrado with kw on it, might be a mk1 thing as you say, mine is not stupidly low either.

Right cheers gents AP shocks and springs it is then.
I have actually already had a set delivered but they are going back as they only sent the springs and dampers and not the front strut housings
