Ive had a starting problem with my bora for ages now, ill give u the low down

My bora is a 1.9tdi pd 115bhp

It has been fine since i bought runs perfect and starts perfect until problem six months ago when i started to get an issue with the starting, it wud on the odd occasion not start first time, then over time it got worse where it wudnt start first second or third time

Heres the things ive done to try and sort it..

Ive had it plugged into a computer and it came up with crank sensor so changed that, didnt change anything, then plugged it in again and it came up with ecu, so i changed the cam shaft sensor as i was told it cus be the camshaft sensor not sending a signal to the ecu to say its in time or summat, that didnt work so i sent me ecu off to get tested,, the ecu has come back fine so heres to where i am now :/

I have no idea what it could be…

Anyone that cud help me in the right direction wud be greatly appriciated

Thanks dan

Hi, when this happens is there plenty of fuel in tank. Some times when mine gets low its a nightmare to start. Don't know if it related. Believe the lift pump in the tanks give up. Also there is a relay that can give trouble related to starter motor.

Yeah it does it weneva, i forgot to meantion that ive changed the glow plugs and filters and gave it a service aswell and that did nothing, it also does it wen it hot or cold that has no effect on it aswell

Oh and also changed a wiring loom that i think is for the injectors it runS inside the engine

We had a starting issue with a polo tdi pd a few years ago. I worked out it would never start when you turned the key and the glow plug didn't light up as it does briefly. I replaced to glow plug relay eventually  and has worked  a treat every time.

No havent tried those yet, my next step is wen i get the ecu back is to put the original cam sensor back on cuz wen i chanhed that for a new one it didnt start at all so gonna check that cuz ive heard that aftermarket ones are c**p so i might try a genuine one first then go from there

Right, ive changed the injector seals and it seems to have made it start better but its not solved the starting problem completly, it still doesnt start straight away, but theres one thing i have noticed is that the egr valve seems a bit sticky when opening and closing before the engine is cranked, someone told me a way to check if it is the egr valve is to pull off a vacuum pipe on the egr valve, blank it off and then try it, and if that solves it then thats the problem,

But my problem is is that there is a few vacuum pipes around the egr valve :/

Anyone know which pipe hes on about?

Is it the one ontop of the mushroom shaped part to the egr valve?

Thanks dan
