Any reviews on this carpet set?

It's not a fully moulded set like Newton but it looks like good quality and is a lot cheaper.

So I'm wondering if anyone has had one and/or has an opinion on how they look, fit and survive in a MK1 golf?

All I will tell you is that Moulded or not, that the padding kit and or soundproofing goes a long way to help in the fitment. As it takes away from the Depth that the Carpet has to go to the floor, and keeps the Edging safe.  When the padding (like rockwool as we call it over here) wears, and thins the carpet wanting to lay on top of it will pull away from the edges as you get in and out of it.
The soundproof makes it quieter, and the padding cushier….Too Thick and you interfere with the seat runners.

I know that the padding in my LS Diesel was Thicker by about 1/4 inch than an L trimmed Diesel and the carpet itself was a better grade of tufting.  After 20 years it still held up. (Over across the pond, the LS was the top-o-the-line model with all the bells and whistles save for the options that you could buy.).

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Where are my DIY Links?

Looks reasonable - seems a small price to pay for the best quality version as well.

If you get one, please update with your thoughts as new carpet will be on my list soon.

Wheres the hole for the handbrake or gear stick?

look rather cheap and nasty to me in the pictures, you would have to stick the sides, wheel arch and rear bench pieces on then place the reset of the carpet in the car…. whats holding it in place to stop it moving around?

I could be completely wrong and it's alright…..

£140 delivered or £205 ish (you can get club discount from Newton..) saving of £65 ish….

I've seen some bad reviews on those carpets sets on facebook. A guy was selling a set on that he had bought and quite openly admitted they were rubbish.

I'd look at used sets, and consider a set of nice over mats to cover any wear and protect them for the future.

See my for sale thread and sig for mats!  :ninja:

Hmm, I was thinking that the price would be worth the risk as I'd be able to save some cash by collecting it but thinking about having to stick the sides on worries me a little.

I'm going to bite the bullet and get one from Newton, the Jetta deserves a nice carpet :)

Cheers guys!

Newton Commercial stuff is, as far as my experiences go, of rearly good quality and fit.
They have been in business for years supplying classic cars and  I wreckon it would be better to try to save for their kit if you can. Only my opinion, but I hope it helps.
