My golf is going back in Saturday for changing if vbelt and cambelt, lovely.
It's also having the mount between the pedal and accelerator cable welded because it's misaligned because the last owner botched it and screwed it in in the wrong place.
I've little confidence driving it because if I push for a little more power it's catching and revving like crazy, I turned ignition off, back on and it's fine!!!
Other than the misalignment what could be causing this?????
New choke cable, new accelerator cable, the bush is brand new between cable and pedal.
Is there anything else that could be causing this?
It's terrifying to accelerate on its own but fortunately now I've got the technique down, I'm not driving it as a daily because it's far too dangerous and a pal of mine wrote off his polo because it was doing this.

If you've experienced this please let me know what it was and how you rectified it.
I just find it hard to believe it's the mounts fault ;/

Thanks
Anna

I can't say I've ever come across this before Anna. The misalignment sounds plausible, I can't think what else it could be.

If the garage have identified this and that's what you're paying to have fixed then it's their obligation to make sure it's sorted.

It would be interesting to hear if anyone else has had this

there's nothing more frustrating than having an issue and not being able to figure it out!
It could may well be the mount but I do have doubt about it…but surely there's no other parts to cause it because the set up of the accel pedal is so simple.
Hmm…
We will see Saturday - if I write it off and kill myself we know it wasn't the mount!

Oh no gutted, great news the pedal is fixed. I take it the car wasn't losing power before it went in? Have they forgotten to refit something?

Is there anyone on here local to you who can help out?

Well apparently it's sorted, its a lot smoother now.
I do not know, there were bolts missing that he has replaced on engine mounts and alternator - ridiculous.
It ran lovely for me a little bit after it was done then my dad went to pick it up today because I'm working and bam! The showroom chaps had to help him push it back on the forecourt from the main road.
It's a HUGE pi** off considering I've just spent.
Even if there was anyone locally I wouldn't be able to get the car there!
If I don't laugh I will cry
The joys of owning and running an old dub :)
