Looking at the state of the accelerator cable now, in hindsight I am scared I drove the bloody thing.
It was in an atrocious state! It has been changed but it was always missing the little grommet between the cable and pedal, so the new ones all fitted without that too!
Such a tiny tiny part to get hold of!!

Yeah thanks pal I read all about it. I called a few places around here too they all said the same thing. They can get it in but it would be a few days. It is the mk1 grommet I've got, not risking anything again. The drive was incredible til the pedal lost all give in it, scary stuff but that's what I get for being impatient!

I got it at that price and it came today. Already sat in its rightful place, not in the mood to risk my life tonight so I'll wait til the morning to see if it has rectified the nonsensical behaviour. I can't think of why else it would do what it was doing, so we will see
