86 gti running issues

Hi,

Just bought an 86 gti cabriolet and looking to restore it bodywise, but before I do this there are a couple of issues I wonder if you guys could advise with...

Temperature gauge fluctuates/moves upto 3/4 though doesn't seem to get hot and it has new water pump and correct coolant.

Hesitates under load up a hill if you accelerate hard

Cuts out in traffic at a standstill from time to time - new plugs leads, looked underneath and fuel pump and filter looked a million years old.

Otherwise it's great!

Have you bled the coolant system correctly?
Popped in a new thermostat?
Is the fuel filler pipe ok? No rust on it?
Have you been fishing in the tank?
