mk1

Considering getting another mk1,not really sure what i want to start with. Condition is the most important, unrestored mint shell would be nice but probably unrealistic, im very wary of restored cars because have seen some very dodgy welding on forums and a coat of shiny paint or underseal can hide a lot. I am looking to end up with a 20vt powered mk1, maybe a finished project, not looking for a mint standard gti really because the price they command and i would be throwing half of it away. Not looking to buy of ebay as not time for a proper viewing really. My ideal is mars red, no sunroof, 3 door but not fixed in stone.  Also will probably be funded by a loan which i do not have in place so not looking for a quick deal next week. I always buy the first car i look at and often regret it so need to get it right this time, so any body got anything suitable?  Sorry for the long winded story.

Only a 12 year old clio sport 172, its quite nice but a pain to work on.  for instance have to remove the dash to fit a replacement bulb in the speedo, I just know mk1,s, i like how you can see all 4 corners from the driving seat, i could go on.

Know what you mean matey. Have driven one of those 172's and they're revvy engines and handle really well.

Used to fair well against my old type-r many moons ago now  :'(
