 Description: Here we have my beloved MK1 GX (5 Door).  I have a MK2 Golf and would like to make that final push and get it on the road.  That means I will have to sell my daily … named Frank.

So a little about Frank.  I brought him a few years back from a nice guy on the south coast.  The car was in good condition when I brought him, with needing minor work on the engine.  The car had been dry stored for almost 10 years and I have the original SORN notes to back this up!  

The service history is very extensive but shows that the car has always been looked after.  I got it back to Derby and spend alomst £1,000.00 on the engine and fuel system to bring it back to life.  The reason for this was I wanted/and do use it as my daily runner.  It covers around 50 miles a day, Monday to Friday.  It fires first time, idles nicely and still pulls well.

The interior is in good condition and so is the body.  Sure it has a few minor scratches and chips but overall it is solid.  I even put it up on the ramp at work to check the underside and couldn't see anything nasty.  The only thing I would say is that there is a little rust on the front wings and they could be replaced.  I probably would have done this before winter but it isn't nessesary.

I recently had the front pads and discs changed and have all the service paperwork.  Further to that it has had a new alternator, battery, fuel lines, fan belt, fuel pump, vac pipes and a recon of the carb and auto choke. (There is more so feel free to read through the history)

The engine bay looks quite messy BUT it still has the original coat of wax oil.  Behind the oil there lies the shiny original paint.  It could do with as tidy but the main thing is everything is there and in good nick.

This is now a car car, with less GX's on the road that GTI's.  Grab yourself a solid, reliable gem!  This would be a good buy for anybody as all it has had a lot of work.
