Volkswagen Golf Mk1 Cabriolet 1.8 8v GTI Karman Helios Blue

Hi Everyone,

Ive not been on these forums for a long long while but ive got to sell my mk1 gti cab as ive just bought a house and need to get some funds together so it really needs to go!  I made this advert last year when i tried to sell it online but got a lot of timewasters so i thought id come back on here where the enthusiasts are in the hope that it can go to a new home and get the TLC it needs to get it back on the road! As i really dont want to have to break it up or weigh it in!  :(

Well heres the advert i put up last time -

Model: 1.8 8v GTI Karman Cabriolet.
Year of manufacture: 1987
Mileage: Approx 115K
Service history: I have loads of Service History with this car a folder full of receipts of previous work and MOTs.
Mot expiry Date: Expired
Tax: Currently sorn

Condition for its age is good! With only a couple of small rust spots, one being on the drivers door, one on the boot and one near the windscreen other than that it's pretty tidy.

I bought this car with the intention of using it during the summer months, various other commitments meant I unfortunately couldn't do this and it has been sitting in my drive since.  It is an excellent base for anyone who's after a project- it had tax and mot when I bought it.  I need to sell this car as I no longer have the space to store it and I don't want to see it sitting there going to ruin.

The interior isn't too bad, would benefit from a vac, the driver's side seat is worn which is expected from a 23 year old car!  Wish I could keep the car because having looked online it wouldn't cost a lot to get this car looking really good- leather interior etc.

I have had the car running every now and then since owning it, I thought it had a flat battery at first but I am pretty sure it's just a bad earth to the battery.  It had a head gasket done on it before I bought it - the previous owner advised re torquing the bolts after a while on the head but as I hadn't been driving it, I didn't bother.  It now looks like the head gasket has gone- I assume this is down to the fact that I didn't re torque the bolts.  The only good thing is it's only gone whilst running up on the drive and not whilst being driven (this is definitely genuine as you can see from the last MOT and the current mileage!)

I had a HPI check done before I bought it and it is completely clear!  I have a folder full of history to go with it too!  I have the original service book/folder with its first VW service up until 2007, I also have paperwork to prove it has been serviced since they just haven't stamped the book, I know the previous owner had a head gasket done in 2008.  In the VW folder pack it has all the original 'Golf Convertible Instruction Manual' book plus other bits.  There is so much more that I can't list it so I have taken a picture of all the paperwork I have!

The car is brilliant I just can't justify owning more than two cars at the moment and have my parents on the case as they don't want it sitting on the drive.  It'll be a shame to see it go as it's not very often you see an original mk1 GTI that hasn't been modified- it's at the stage where it can be kept as an original classic or maybe turned into a project car to drive in the summer!

As the car has no tax or mot it will have to be trailored away.  Cash on collection preferred with a £100 deposit to be made via PayPal within 24hours of auction ending.
Please no time wasters, this car is being sold as seen for spares or repair as I need the space and money.  I paid 1100 for it originally, i appreciate this was with tax and mot so im not looking for that sort of money back on it i was looking for around £500 ono? As i can break it up and then weigh the rest in and get around that money but for obvious reasons id rather sell it in one lump!

I advise you come and have a look at the car for yourself if you are interested.
Please email me if you have any further enquiries I will do my best to answer them.

Id like to sell the car whole if not I will be breaking it which seems a real shame seeing as its such a solid base!

Any questions please PM me!

 :)
