1979 Mk1 Golf 2.0 16v

Car has been owned and kept in heated garage for 4.5 years, and never driven in winter/ salt, and also never been welded. Maintained regardless of cost. Golf+ magazine cover car, and has won plenty of trophies over the years, including 2 in 2012. It will also have 12 months MOT.



Car is a 1979 model, with chrome small bumpers, early mk1 dashboard.

Engine - 2 litre 16v - built in 2011 using Audi 6a bottom end, with new Mahle oversize pistons and new bearings throughout. 1.8 16v KR head - fully rebuilt at same time. 3000 miles covered since rebuild.
Carbs - Twin Dellorto DHLA 40's re-jetted and set up for the 2 litre.
Gearbox - 2y code from a Mk2 Golf 16v
Exhaust - Ashley manifold & full exhaust
Suspension - FK Konigsport (damping and height adjustable). Fully polybushed throughout.
Wheels - 7x13 ATS Classics
Interior - Sparco bucket seats with Willans harnesses (Another, more standard looking interior - in very good condition - will be included in the sale, incl. VGC parcel shelf, buckle-less seat belts, etc.)
Other bits - Lupo GTI battery box in boot, half roll cage, lower front strut brace, twin fans on rad, various chrome engine bay trimmings.
