Sportline for sale SOLD

1992 K reg, sportline in black, 110000,New hood, tyres. 256mm brake conversion, modified wiring loom, spotless Recaro interior, original BBS Alloys. FVWSH. Got some spares as well, inc. front springs , spare wheel+ other bits
 The bad news is its a Cat. C write off. :(  Damage to boot, rear wings &  lights. Got hit by a Freelander so no damage below the bottom of boot. The Boot will need replacing, but the wings should beat out
Will post pics. when i get it back from the insurance company.
So if somebody wants a project for the winter, looking for ?1500.
In Hampshire if anybody want to view it.
PS Will not be breaking for spares

i might be interested, if you aint got your money already why don`t you contact the third partys insurance and claim off them directly, that way the car will not be a recorded write off as they can not record something that does not belong to them as salvage. Also you should not get any money deducted from the final value as the third party insurance do not own the salvage..

I am guessing you are claiming threw your own insurance. If you are and won`t change your mind about claiming direct off third party. Then ask your insurance company to settle your claim with a cash in leu settlement. So you keep car and they pay out in cash for you to get repairs done if you want ( or sell car ) this way the car does not get recorded.

Sorry but that just sounds dodgy. If a car's been so badly damaged that an insurance company wants to write it off as a Cat C, it shouldn't be possible to get round this, then someone sell the car as unrecorded, with a view to it being fixed. Accident repairs are far from easy, even if you superficially do it, what about if the areas of welded repair aren't rustproofed properly and 3 years later, the car is structurally weak and then suffers a major accident, and is unable to be strong enough to protect its occupants? And what about the sidelining of the VIC, which would inevitibly be done if the car was Cat C and then reregistered for the road? And how about the little fact that its 'interesting' history can conveniently disappear?

Insurance companies price Cat C cars at 10% of market value for a reason.

Just my opinion, of course……..good luck with the sale.

The  freelander's insurance company  are paying , and i've bought the car back, should be deliverd next week, just have'nt got the time to put it back on the road my self :banghead: Whish i could owend it for 8 years and love it, probably to much! 8O  Just want to see it back on the road again being enjoyed. Had to buy a replacment yesterday as it was a daily driver. Pics as soon as i get it back

The insurance company just said it was uneconomical to repair,  hence the write of, not to sure why theve done the Cat C not Cat D, but its not to bad, as said would do it my self if had time, it stiil drives as it always did just can't get in the boot without a crow bar! :?

Well weather it should or should not happen it does happen. If you claim directly through the person at fault insurance company (3rd party) then that insurance company has no right what so ever to the salvage on that car as you do not insure with them. They should just pay you out the full glasses guide value on that car. You should not have to buy it back from them as they will never own it even if they pay you out.
That is how these can go uncatoragised as they should not be able to register a car that they do not own for salvage and can not sell for salvage. A car is put on the register before it is sold on to the salvage companys but this can not happen when they have no right to the salvage if you see what i mean

Now if you go through your own insurance company, and ask to be paid cash in leu for the repairs, then the car has technically never been written off, as all you will be doing is the insurance company will be paying out the value on the car and then you making the rest of the money up to match the garges estimate to get the car repaired ( if you want to that is ). The insurance company doe snot have to aggree with this way just depends on who you insure with

When you get some pictures done send me them over and will go from there,

just out of interest did you deal directly with the other persons insurance company or did you claim on your own and speak with your insurance company, who will then claim it back from his eventually

cat c is non structural so the insurance company prob just wrote it off due to age of it and price to get repaired, it will prob be a good winter project/repair for someone for next summer if we get one.

A few dented panels is no problem at all, insurance companys just see the age and current labour/parts costs and write them off

I also agree that the insurance "scam" mentioned sounds dodgy!!

but then its no different situation to when the brand new Volvo S40 T4 i had delivered to the dealers i worked at, and the shall we say "clumsy" delivery guy managed to cave the rear door, rear 1/4 and bumper in driving it off the truck 8O , now that was all repaired and paid for by volvo at our own bodyshop, so who new about that then? coz the car got sold on to someone…………
