series 1 gti for sale

Hi,

S1 79 gti for sale, brought it about two years ago. It's been in a container ever since! It's only got 58k on the clock with all old mots and a full service history to prove millage. Same owner for 23 years, the last owner messed it up though, added a few bits and did a really bad diy spray job.
The car is also fitted with air con which was fiited in the wolsburg factory from new, i have all the original documentaion for this, also an electric sun roof was fitted from the factory. It's drives really well and everthing is still really tight as you would expect from such a low millage. The body lets it down though but with a bit of time this will be a really special car considering it's geniune low millage and history.
Also included are some new origainl parts.

If so, I have a few questions.

Does the car currently have tax and Mot?
Is it a 4 or 5 speed gearbox?
Do you have any pictures of areas of rust?

Just for anyone that is interested -

I travelled the 4 hours each way to Bangor today to view this car, Its been away in storage for 2 years so has no mot or tax

Its had a very rough paintjob & has rust/rot in a few places - but not too bad for a series 1,

Unfortunately what put me off was the rust around the steel sunroof, the mouldy interior and collection of electric/manual windows - evidence of broken glass around in both sides of the car - and the generally tatty door cards and missing lower dash - and the final nail in the coffin was a v5 not in the owners name so I walked away

Why write this -
1. its  along way to go & its not as was described on the phone
2. its only fair to give more info as very little has been posted on here about it

Positively - its a (seemingly) low mileage car but it really needs a full resto

I know your not really supposed to discuss other peoples sales in the for sale threads, but thanks for posting that mate, as i was the other buyer who the seller may of mentioned. I have spoke to him and he has advised now that you came and then walked away, mainly due to the v5 situation.

He also now advised me that there sunroof looks like there may be rust around there. But to be honest its a 1979 car which has been in storage, its going to need a full resto.

Where were the other areas of rust, what were the sills, archs , inner wings and floor like.

I am considering going to see this, but its over 3 and half hours away.

Just to clear this matter up. If the guy who came to see the car had waited around long enough, he would have found that the new v5 was back at my house where i thought it was!!

I described the car as in need of a full resto on the phone to him so i don't know what he was expecting!

Anyway this is a straight car and i have all the history, all mots and tax discs to prove all this, which he didn't even look at!. I just think that it's wrong that people make statements without knowing the facts.

Specifically which areas need attention, and how flexable are you on the price?  Any welding needed?  Thanks mate

Does anyone know how accurate the electric sunroof claim is, wasn't aware this was a VAG option at the time, same with air con.
