MK1 yellow clipper kitted tintop

It is time to sell my yellow mk1.  I bought this car 8 years ago when it looked very different from how it looks today.  It has spent most of the last 8 years off the road in a dry garage, it has been used for about two years in my ownership.

It is now yellow, it was completely stripped to a rolling shell and sprayed by a good bodyshop who restored old mercs, and had an oven.  It has a genuine VW convertible clipper bodykit which was fitted at the same time.  It was been de-handled, de-wipered (single wiper), detrimmed (holes down the side welded up).  The doors are now operated by buttons on each door, a lot of development went into making these work properly.  An interface was made so it works with the central locking on the alarm, the LED on the door is green when unlocked and flashes red when the alarm is on.  The door opening solenoids work perfectly, one handed door opening and they have always been reliable.  The boot is a remote release on the keyfob.  The wing mirrors are little spa design ones, they are convex so rear vision is still very good.

The car was a 1.1 when new, it has had a polo GT 1.3 engine (75bhp) installed, along with the digifant multipoint injection system and close ratio 5-speed gearbox.  It is good on petrol and cheap to insure.  It has had a new starter and alternator, the head came off recently to have the valve guides replaced.

The car has GMAX suspension, it used to have eibach anti roll bars so the brackets are there.  I can supply some GTi anti roll bars if you want them.  It has powerflex bushes all round.  The ride is really good fun on the road, light steering, not too stiff and a revvy light little engine.  It has the vented front brakes off a Gti.

It has a corrado front and rear seats.   Pretty much everything has been replaced with black parts from a Gti.  It has the centre console thing with volts, oil temp and pressure gauges.  I broke the oil temp sender so that isn't working, but the other two are.  The corrado rear seats are fitted, but not that well, they are usable though.  There is no radio, but the wiring is all there ready.  The headlining has been replaced and is like new, the pics don't do it justice.

This car is not concours and remember it is 25 years old.  There are marks all over the bodywork.  After a meeting with a roundabout lane wanderer there is some paint missing from the front passenger side bumper corner, and the wing is dented.  The trim and fittings are well used, there are bits broken here and there etc.

The black wheels and tyres are VW 9 spoke gti wheels powdercoated black, they are in very good condition.  The tyres are Toyo proxes CF1's and are nearly new.  The MIM's are BMW origin, they have been kerbed and the laquer is peeling in places, they have Uniroyal rainsports on that will need replacing soon.  You can choose which wheels you have.

All these pics were taken today:

The car is MOT'd till June 20th 2010 and taxed till the end of december.  I'm after ?1500 for it.  It is in Hinckley which is between Coventry and Leicester

Get in touch if you want more info/pics or you would like to see the car.  PM me for a telephone number.
