I bought the car of my neighbour in 1997 @ 156890
The engine is a mk2 block @ 52000 and its a 1900 GTI Engineering engine with a mk1 big valve head,with a 271 cam
I drove the car till 2000 and the mileage was @175800
I had the engine rebuilt in 1999 because it burnt 2 exhaust valves
these were bought from BBR-GTI because they were 33mm ( i have reciepts for these ) also replaced the clutch as it started to slip when giving it some beans.
I used genuine gaskets and head bolts all valve stem oil seals were replaced
camshaft oil seals,bores were honed,the block was not touched as there was no smoke or knocking, i then drove the car for 5 months before i took it off the road in 2001
The engine has been kept in a dry clean environment, i have put oil in the bores and kept turning it over every year
the cam is 271 and made for a lumpy idle , though @ 3000 and above it pulled like a train
i serviced it with oil and filter change every 6000 miles

Have owned this vehicle for the last 13 years where it has been kept in a clean dry garage. Many new and refurbished parts
Body work is in ok condition but will reg o/s/r + n/s/r inner and outer arches, corrosion to scuttle pannel and sills.Also the bottom of the windscreen area has rot.
