Mk1 golf Gli Karmann 1600cc (easy project)

Mot'd till 26 April 2012 and taxed till October.

This is an original mk1 golf with no silly mods. She is a classic in all her standard glory even down to the clarion cassette player, along with all other interior and exterior extras, allots, trim, etc.

It has the well sought after brown dash interior which is becoming hard to come by these days.

The car had a full respray at 100000 miles so the paint work is in good condition but there are the few scratches and rust blips. VW's are renound for being pretty solid and this is a good example. Clean and tidy on the inside too. Usual wear to seats and carpets, but no major rips or damage. The roof must have been replaced at some point as it's in ok nic and does not leak. Admittedly, there are a couple of tears to the roof but only at the base so does not let any water in.

From going through the paper work and previous sellers descriptions it appears that the car had an engine rebuild at 104000 miles, which means that there is no coolant leaks, no smoke and no burning of oil.

The car has recently had a full exhaust fitted, new injectors, auxiliary air valve and full service including plugs, leads, thermostat and oil filter.  From the paper and other descriptions this car has had a lot of money put in and would only require a small amount more to get it to perfect condition.

Taurus alarm/immobiliser fitted with certificate, which is needed for insurance.

Unfortunately just as I was about to put the car up on here the following things have happened:

Gear linkage has gone. Now only goes into 3rd, 4th and 5th, which isn't too bad as it still drive and also will only cost £40 to fix.

Warm up regulator (WUR) has developed a fault and the engine revs high for the first 5 minutes of running. This can be replaced for £30.

Apart from the above two things the car is in great condition and is a very simple project for someone to make a quick buck if they wanted.

Low starting price considering the car could be broken for more.

Additional information, this is an EG engine used in the early GTi before changing to the DX engine.
