 Description:
Hi all,

Well, the time has come to sell my beloved Golf to someone who can give it the TLC it needs and the money to make it immaculate again.

I've owned the car since 1998 and it has been perfect. Never broken down or caused any problems. It still drives beautifully.

It's been serviced every year since I bought it (before then it had a largely VW service history), and it has been serviced at VW specialists since, the last one costing me £800. I have all the receipts and most of the tax discs, as well as a lot of supporting documentation - original folder, and manuals.

It is a black late 1983 genuine Campaign model, with all the usual refinements. Pirelli wheels, door pins, spotlamp grille, leather steering wheel. I have replaced these with aftermarket items to keep the original items in as best a condition as possible. The suspension has been changed to FK Highsport coilovers with lower strut brace. Currently the car is sporting MiM1900 "Alpine" alloy wheels, and I have the original Pirellis stored away. The steering wheel is the VW metal 3-spoke wheel, the original is in storage also. The Mim1900s come with the car, I have no inclination to keep wheels lying around so the buyer can have them.

Stereo is an Alpine head unit that can handle iPod / iPhone connections, and has 4 Alpine speakers in the original door / rear shelf pods, as well as an Alpine 8" sub in a box on the boot floor. Gear knob is the leather Mk2 16v item. The seats are in very good condition, however the internal wiring inside them has a problem whereby the fix is to make only one side lock the seat down.

The recent services have involved replacement front wheel bearings, battery, alternator.

Externally the bodywork needs TLC. The front panel behind the bumper is cracked, and the roof is faded. There is a little rust on the front of the passenger door which is common, and also in the inside of the boot where the rear right hand seat belt is fixed, and has come away. I'm not sure about wheel well or sill rust, the car looks pretty solid otherwise. Mechanically the car is fine, however the exterior needs work and I don't have the time to oversee a restoration project.

Performance is good. The engine is fine and doesn't smoke, even though it hasn't had the valve guides and seals done yet. I do not drive the car hard at all. The mileage is genuine and the documents support this.

Apologies for the lack of photos, I will take some tomorrow evening as it is a little late now and light is sparse.

Viewing is recommended, so please call me to arrange.

I am posting in this forum first before I post on other websites, in order to keep this car in the hands of enthusiasts.

Thanks

Andoni
