This is the reluctant sale of my mk1 golf cabby ABF conversion project. I have had the car since Jan 2011 and having got it running and on the road for Big Bang for a bit of fun down the strip, decided to start getting it tidy. Unfortunately due to commitments with work and another project I don’t have the time to get this car to its full potential.
When I got the car it had been sat on a driveway for 5 years and have undertaken a full ground up rebuild. Then body work is solid as a rock, no rust at all. It has had new brakes and brake lines, braided hoses, new bushes, track rods, wish bones, filler neck and second hand solid fuel tank….near as dam it everything under the car is new. It has also been lowered on coilovers
It has had a 2.0L ABF conversion with all engine mount and the gear box mount rubbers replaced and has a 1.8 KR box, so off the mark it is a quick kritter! It has had a full spliced mk1 to mk3 loom and a new lighting loom made, only this is because it was at develpoment stage to make sure everything worked ok it hasn’t been wrapped (not a massive job though).
Body work wise, like I said there is not rust. When I took ownership of the car it did have a dint in the previous bonnet and wing from a roof tile, so the dint on the wing has been filled and smoothed and it has been fitted with a rust free bonnet and rust free tail gate.

Now to the negatives. Like I said this was a project so it does need some TLC. As you can see from the photos the bonnet and tailgate are different colours to the car, so if the rat look isn’t to your fancy then it will need spraying. The side window scraper seals are weathered, but these are the only seals that are bad all the others are spot on. The interior has been stripped to only the dash and 2 front seats (for using at Santa Pod) although I do have the rear bench which is in need of a clean and other bits of trim in very good condition (apart from door the door cards, which I have but will need a re trim) and a tonneau cover.
The dizzy cap got robbed for another car and the one which on at the moment to prevent damage to the rotor arm is knackered, but a new on is only in the region of 30-40 quid. Also a piece of the fuel hose in the engine bay has been cut out for use on another car so that will need repacing.
Due to this and no battery the car is not running, but I can assure you hand on heart that once these bits are replaced it does run, and well!
The wheels are brock b2 with tyre which have only covered at least 500 miles.
The car will need to be trailored, so this will need to be arranged in advance or for a cost depending on distance I may be able to help sort something out.
Contact me on 07912092970 if you have any other questions, but please text first because I don’t pick up numbers I don’t recognise.
