Mk1 Campaign Convertible, Chrome Trim, Coilovers, 1yrs MOT

1985 Golf GTi Campaign Convertible
Montego Black, which after some research I have found out it was only run 1984-1985. Has a lovely subtle metallic flick in it.
70,615 Miles with history to prove.
Manual Transmission
MOT until January 20th 2012
Currently sorn'd
New Coilover Suspension
Mohair Roof with new tensioners and cable (nice and tight)
Half Leather Interior, black with red centers (which has faded a bit over the years, but isn't pink/purple as the photos suggest!)
Altenator, Starter Motor, Fuel Filler Neck, Ignition Switch, Fuel Pump Relay, Battery and Earth cable all replaced in the last 500 miles!

I bought the car from a friend 2 years ago but shortly after went travelling and it has been in storage ever since. It had a starting problem so as you can see above I chased it around and ending up being a £20 Ignition Switch!

When I bought the car it had 17" wheels and a very rotten holey roof so wasn't looking too great, so I replaced the suspension with an adjustable coilover kit, and put on the 7x15" Fondmetals with 165/50/15 Bridgestone Potenzas to smarten it up a bit. The wheels are not included in the sale, it will come with standard 13" Tarantulas unless a deal can be made with the Fondmetals. I luckily found a car locally that was advertised for spares and had a new mohair roof, unfortunately the car had been sitting for 3 years so it could do with a proper scrub! I also swapped over the exhaust as that again was nearly new.

The car came with a 4 light grille with painted red surround and no side trims so I've managed to source a 2 light grille with chrome surround and chrome side trims which really make the world of difference. The interior is half black leather with red dotted center, there is a small tear on the drivers bolster but it's not worn or saggy like the usual GTi seats, I'm sure a trimmer could replace that section cheaply.

I have a massive folder full of receipts and history with the car, strangely the car was bought in 1985 and sent straight to GTi Engineering to be converted to Automatic transmission for £1782, and has at some point in its life been converted back to manual (which is good).

The car is very low mileage for it's age, it has been sitting in my warehouse space for 2 years but always fires up first time and passed it's MOT a few weeks ago, it does idle a little high but emissions are all fine etc, I think a good old motorway blast will sort it. Since being in the warehouse someone has put a scratch down the passenger side which is shown in the photo's. I was meaning to get this painted but haven't got around to it, to be honest the rest of the car is so shiny it doesn't really notice!

As you can see there is a lot of history with this car and it really looks the part, unfortunately I'm buying a house and cannot justify having 2 cars, plus I need a diesel for my daily commute. I've got to sell my wheel collection too, so if you're after some 15" BBS RS Splits, 13" BBS Magnesium Split Rims, 3 piece 14" Schmidt TH Lines or 15" Weds Sport Split Rims in 4x100 fitment to go on this or 16" Schmidt Modernlines, 17" Work CV Pros, 17" Image Splits in 5x100 fitment let me know.
