Here we go….

1983 MK1 golf, originally 1.8 GTI now running a 2.0 16v engine from a corrado (9A engine code) This has had KR cams fitted (better profile)power is at about 150bhp. Running K-Jet injection, k&n filter and a dubpower stainless 4-1 manifold. last winter it had a head rebuild with new valve guides / skim, new headgasket, timing belt etc… Full magnex stainless exhaust so the whole exhaust system is stainless. New waterpump fitted a few months ago and fresh oil / coolant. Conversion is not declared on the logbook so still a 1800. I fitted a brand new distributor to it last week as the original one had wear in the shaft which kept throwing the rotor arm off, at the same time I also fitted a new rear caliper on the nearside as the existing one had seized.

MK2 golf gti rear discs and calipers, drilled / vented discs all round with a willwood brake bias adjuster (situated in the engine bay). Spax adjustable damping suspension, lowered around 30mm. The whole suspension is polybushed. It also has a lower front strut brace which is a must on a Mk1 cabrio.

The wheels are Lenso BSX, which are just over a year old, front tyres are bridgestone potenza 165/50 r15s, while the rears are Nankang 195/45 r15s. No nasty curbing marks.

Scirocco interior with height adjust, really nice low sitting and hugging seats. Rare Italvolante Italian leather wheel (not fitted in the pictures), alloy golf ball gear knob, 6x9s in front doors with a Kenwood USB/CD stereo. 4 light headlamp upgrade with relays. A set of VDO gauges fitted but not hooked up, car will come with all the senders you need.

A previous owner had it for 10 years and did the conversion. He resprayed it in BMW dolphin grey, hood is mint and there are two bits of rust, that have been the same since I bought it, one on the boot lid, and I think one down on the bottom of the passenger door, other than that it's a rust free example.

Bad bits:

The gear linkage has been a little bit off, can still get all the gears but not as nice as it was before.

The paintwork leaves a lot to be desired, the preivious owner must have sprayed it with spray cans as you can see the spray lines, a re spray is needed to fix this hence the low asking price for what is actually a very solid retro car with the ability to keep up with most modern vehicles.

There are one or two small dings on the bodywork which would be repaired at the respray stage so I have not included pictures.

I only brought this car about three months ago but have lost my job so it has to go.
