Mk1 1.5GL Lhasa Green - Project for sale.

Hi

I have owned this Mk1 1.5GL in Lhasa Green for 18yrs. Before that my wife?s granddad owned it from around 6mths new (I believe 1st owner was a dentist in Sevenoaks).  First Registered in 1981 on an X plate with verifiable 123,000 miles on the clock.

For the last 10 years it has been garaged and the planned restoration never taken place. With 4 little ones and a house move imminent I am not going to have the time to restore. I would rather it be sold to an enthusiasts home than let it go for scrap, hence why I am advertising here first.

The bad bits first. Front offside wing is badly corroded and will need to be replaced. Wheel arches also corroded around edges and some other rusting on door sills, behind rear number plate and on front edge of bonnet. Offside headlamp rusting on inside. Some surface scratches to paintwork whilst being stored.  Two minor dents filled and poorly painted on boot lid and off-side wheel arch.  Missing off-side wing mirror. There was no preparation before it was stored . I have not tried to start it in case I do more damage than good so am selling as a non-runner.

The good bits. Other than missing front offside chrome trim and chrome trim under doors both sides, everything else is complete. Nearside wing and bumper were replaced after minor accident in 1991 but everything else on the car is original. Interior is in good condition, although drivers seat is showing expected wear after 123,000 miles. Parcel shelf complete, no speaker holes. Dashboard, carpets, door trims all in very good condition.  As far as I am aware it is structurally sound but you would need to verify yourself (I am no expert). I have the usual folder of service receipts, MOT certificates (up to 1998) and V5.

I have been open and honest with the above, and as such am open to reasonable offers.

Please let me know of any interest or questions. I am based near Maidstone, Kent.

I have been watching a few eBay auctions. Range was from 230 for a 81CL non runner to 330 for a 81 GTi non-runner so am guessing somewhere in this range, but hence why I am open to reasonable offers.

Will put on eBay if I need to, but wanted to give all on this forum first offer as I'm keen on it going to a good home
