Low milage Mk1 cabrio with rare bits

For Sale

1983 mk1 VW Golf Convertable GL

This was originally a German model and hence is left hand drive, it was imported to the UK in 1998 and from what i have been told and the paperwork given to me with the car, was put in storage not long after. I purchased the car last year and got it an mot at the end of November. The car is in excellent condition, with no rust and an incredible solid body and shell. The clocks are showing just under 49,000 miles, which matches with the history that came with the car, so incredibly low millage for a 25 year old car! less than 2000 a year!  The engine is a 1600cc auto choke carb engine (pierburg 2e3 I think). Being a left hand drive mk1 does have some advantages, the main one being the brake the servo on a mk1 is on the left had side, so there less distance in the system before the servo, hence the brakes aren't quite as bad as they are in rhd mk1.   Taxed till 31/05/2009, MOT till 29/11/2009, only covered less than 100 miles since the MOT.

The body work is in excellent condition, and the sills and spare wheel wel are completely rust free. The engine runs smoothly and managed a road trip to Dublin and back last summer without a single problem. The interior is in excellent condition and features seats from a Scirocco, which means GTi style bolsters and height adjustment on the sub frames. The seats use the same material as the original Golf seats and hence match the door cards, all the material is in excelent condition and the drivers seat is mint. The outside passenger bolster foam is slightly worn, but the material is still completely in tact. The car features a custon dash, leather gear and hand brake gaiters, tailored floor mats, leather steering wheel and gear knob and a custom flocked dash board and centre console.

The stereo is included and consists of a Pioneer CD head unit with aux socket for mp3 players, 2 6x4 front door speakers, an amp and 2 6x9s in the back, all top quality kit and sound great, without going over board.

On the outside, there are are few sort after parts including metal bumpers, m3 style ear lights,,opening 1/4 light windows and a full set of chrome (12 bits in total), all of which are in great condition. The car has been lowered and is currently fitted with a set VW BBS 15inch alloys with new tyres all round (less than 500 miles old). The roof was new not too long ago and is perfect condition, no rips or tears etc etc.

The car also comes with a the reg number A15LUV (Als Luv), which according to various reg transfer websites is worth ?999 alone, I reckon that is probably a bit high, but you could probably expect to get ?500 or so for it if you chose to sell the plate.

The bad bits, saying this is a 25 year old car, there aren't really any, only the fact its a 25 year old car and that comes with some issues. I started here yesterday and took her out for a quick spin and she started 1st time on the button and everything all worked perfectly and ran very smoothly, as she normally does. However, she does occassionally struggle on extremly cold days (when the temperature is well below 0), but once she starts the engine always runs smooth and as it should do. The only slight niggle is that there is a loose connection to the hazard warning light switch on the dash which means they some times won't operate (indicators are always fine), it just needs a few mins attention with the haynes manual and then they will be perfect.

I am after ?1500ono for her, which for a mk1 cabby in this condition is a real bargain, this is hugely less than it cost me to get her like this, but I just don't have the time to spend on her any more The car is in Northampton, just minutes from J15 of the M1, and is obviously collection only, cash on collection preferred with a ?150 paypal deposit within 48hours of the auction ending.

I think that covers most things, but feel free to ask if you have any questions, If you want to give me a call my number is 07894546757.

Cheers
Alan

The beach pics were taken for a photo shoot a dutch friend of mine organised, hence the car has his dutch plates on in those pics.
