history
i purchased the car around 6 months ago from london and have since set about restoring it to its former glory. but a new house forces sale.

body
the body of this car is in shockingly good condition for its age. there are 3 main points for concern which are, front passenger wing, driver rear vallence, driver front arch
front passenger wing - this is a patch about the length of an iphone and half its width, i have taken this to a body shop and have been told this calls for a new wing cost £49.99, although you may know more than me on this matter and may feel it could be repaired.
driver rear vallence - this is around the same size as the patch on the front, but looks to have set in a lot less. i am told this is a cut out, then reweld job. the paint shop said they would then fade as aposed to a full respray. again, you may disagree.
driver arch - this is due to the gti arch trims being on from new, till 6 months ago. size, about the length of an iphone, it remains on the flat outer lip. again i have been told this could be repaired at a cost less than replacing but its entirely up to you.
the rest of the body of the car is clear from rust for the most part (a few spots here and there)
paintwork on this car is very good, i have had the car colour restored, machine polished aswell as waxed and sealed.
there are a few parking dings but im talking maybe 5 on the whole car and are not noticeable unless off hand.
all panels are original and straight. windows are all original and stamped and etched
THERE IS NO RUST ON…
- the inner arches
- front or rear strut pillars, scuttle, or anything in the engine bay
- interior floor pan
- boot and spare wheel compartment
- sills
- doors, boot lid, bonnet

car has been fully undersealed so is rock solid

interior
all dash lights, dials and buttons are in full working order.
heater controls work fully on all settings and blow clearly (could do with a clear out as they smell a bit like an old man tweed jacket, but its never bothered me)
drivers seat is showing wear, but outer bolster is still strong and is showing no signs of giving way.
passenger seat and rear seats are perfect. no wear, stains, colapsing, tears, burns, discolouration. front seats both slide forwards and backwards perfectly and recline as they should. drop seat function for allowing people into rear of the car works well and doesnt stick etc.
rear seats drop as they should and brown parcel shelf is still attached and in perfect condition. as are, door cards front and rear, carpets (original brown) no stains on headliner or sun visors.

engine
first thing i did was a FULL service, all fluids, leads, plugs, pumps, filters, battery etc.
also did an engine flush and i use fuel additive with every refill at the petrol station and only use high grade. (im aware this car may not need either, but i find it runs nicely on them)
original engine has been swapped for a polo 1.3 engine (single point injection) with a 5 speed box. although i dont have proof of miles before the conversion took place, it was 50.000ish.
no crunching, no grinding, starts FIRST time EVERY time, in the cold, in the hot, idles completely flat, never cuts out or splutters. the car does pop, on shifting and burbling on slowing. this may be due to no CAT, or the fuel additives or a combination of both… i personally like it, but if you dont, it didnt do this with the standard backbox on.
the car has had a brake servo conversion, which it benfits from HUGELY. it is in full working order.
