Very reluctant sale of a very rare 1992 Golf GTi Cabrio Sportline with the full Recaro interior and black BBS alloys found only on this model.

I've owned it for the last 4 years and during that time it's only been used for 6 months out of the year, throughout the summer. I've never driven it in the wet and it comes with an expensive waterproof/breathable cover .

Full Spec:

2.0 litre tall block conversion fully rebuilt last year with all new gaskets, injector seals, cam belt, alternator belt & pully etc, etc.
Polly engine bushes all round.
Fast road cam with fully adjustable pulley.
Larger Audi throttle body with warm up regulator.
K & N filter.
New Bosch Super 4 plugs.
4 branch Supersprint manifold flowing into a full stainless steel exhaust system.
Fully adjustable coil-over suspension.
Front & Rear Eibach anti roll bars & bushes.
Momo leather steering wheel and boss.
Clifford Concept 600 Thatcham Category 1 with central locking.

At some point in it's life it's had a new fuel filler neck, so no problems there. Tyres are almost new all round and the battery is a genuine VW item bought this year. Brakes are all standard, the rears have been properly adjusted and the fronts are nearly new with powder coated stone guards.

Inside, the Recaro interior and matching door trim is in excellent condition, no rips or tears. I have had the drivers seat bolster cushioning professionally replaced and it's now nice and firm as it should be. The carpet hasn't shrunk (like they usually do) and it fits properly around the edges. I've sourced a quality set of black over mats which contour the floor pan perfectly.

The MFA computer works as it should - this is rare. I have replaced the standard mk1 wiper and indicator stalks with the better looking late mk2 versions, complete with the MFA control.

The previous owner replaced all the speakers with decent Pioneers including the separate tweeters in the front doors. There's a decent Sony MP3 player head unit with old school electric aerial with black mast which looks great against the red paintwork.

Outside, the original electric roof is fully operational with no holes, although there's a couple of tiny nicks on the folds, this is really common. I have replaced the rear window frame with a good reconditioned unit as the original had rusted away - again very common on the Mk1 Cabrio.

Considering the car is over 20 years old, the bodywork is in very good condition, no rust, scratches or dents. The paint is not faded and polishes up really well. It is not in concourse condition, but wouldn't take a lot to get it there either. Some of the panels have been resprayed during it's life, but a good job has been done and it doesn't detract from the overall superb condition. It turns heads wherever it goes.

The car starts on first turn of the key every time, although it does take a couple of minutes to warm up. Once it is warm it runs extremely well. I'm not a boy racer (I'm 37), but the sound from the combination of 2 litre engine, large throttle body and exhaust note does put a smile on my face. I think the car would really benefit from a rolling road session to get the most out of it.

I've just put 6 months Tax on and the MOT runs out at the end of June, but if I get the asking price I'll put 12 months on - it's only done 100 miles or so since the last test.

In my opinion there's nothing left to do to this car apart from drive it.
