Excellent condition 1.8 MK1 Cabriolet 1993 84,900 miles

1993 (last production year for this car) mk1 VW Golf cabriolet 1.8 (not GTI) for sale. 84,900 miles. A fantastic example of this beautiful car. Extremely reluctant sale. Here are the details:

- Taxed to April 2012
- MOT'd to April 2012
- 5 Previous owners
- Full service history (serviced at VW centres from new)
- Electric front windows
- Electric roof
- Rear glass window with heated elements
- 4 seats
- 5 gears
- Manual choke. Upgraded to a Weber Carburettor
- Category 1 Thatcham alarm system and immobiliser
- JVC CD system with rear Pioneer speakers and front Alpine speakers
- Full Jetex exhaust system added April 2011
- 3 new Falken tyres April 2011 still in fantastic condition, the one that wasn't replaced is now needing replaced
- Brand new roof done 1.5 years ago
- Sitting on coilovers. Lowered sensible amount - speed bumps no problem
- Interior in very good condition although digital clock has leaked slightly so can't clearly read the time
- Bonnet lifters added
- All original features except small cosmetic changes (door pins, gear knob, lighter and petrol cap). The original parts will be included in the sale
- price: £3,250 or nearest offer

There are extras to add into the sale: original grille (I have put a debadged one on - you can see original and replacement in the pics), full PI spring lowering kit, replacement plates (Belgian plates also included), cleaning products for roof, leather tonneau cover for top when folded down, 8 ball gear knob, all original parts that have been replaced (original door pins, petrol cap, gear knob etc).

I had a bump in October so had to take the original bumper off. I have a replacement bumper, arch and plate holder which is to be sprayed and fitted. The car is booked in for Sunday to have this work done and will be in for approximately 3 days. Viewing before and after welcome.

The car was garaged from new until I bought it 1.5 years ago so the paint is in fantastic condition (it has not been resprayed). There is slight rusting to the driver door edge as a result of stone chips which I am going to ask to be fixed on Sunday. New brake pads were fitted just before I bought it and are still working well.

The car is a must see. Despite not being a GTI, it's very quick. I think there may have been a GTI cam upgrade done at some point and the exhaust produces a nice sound and isn't too loud. I've had this car for 1 1/2 years and the only time it's let me down was when the breathing hose for the distributor came away due to there being no clamp to hold it in place. We fixed this with the ever-handy cable tie of course and it's never come away since. Absolutely cherished from new and well looked after. Apart from the suspension and exhaust changes, this is a very nice (rare) standard example.

I am open to sensible offers, no time wasters please.
