Trouble is people don't like to bid from an optimistic starting point. If it was started at 99p with a reserve then he'd have bids and still be assured of not letting it go for stupid money. Buy it Now won't work on an item like this.

Surely anyone would realise with an hour or so to go, that they could get a great unmoddied GTI for 1700 quid, which is a bargin!!!  Do the maths

Maths was never my strong suit but I know this much. Most people aren't looking at eBay on a Sunday morning. If you want to sell for top Dollar you have to end your auction at a peek time and not when most people are recovering from a night on the lash.

I've got them crossed for him but I'll resist the temptation of 'watching' the item as this will only give false hope. Nothing worse than loads of watchers but still no bidders.
