86 ALL BLACK MK1 GOLF GTI CABBY

I am debating what to do with my little baby, this was the first mk1 i owned and got me hooked on mk1's, it drove fantastic and handled like no other car however the gearbox went on me so i decided to restore it to its former glory as i had brought it lightly modified, all the running gear was done tastefully but i didnt like the big bumpers, cut out holes in doors for speakers/tweeters and half the dash was missing, so i did everything that needed doing and in that time i kept trying to get a gearbox, so i brought another mk1 gti cabby , just for the gearbox, but after driving this new one back home i didnt have the heart to rip the box out of it as it was a nice car that needed little work doing to it, bar a new roof and replacing the engine. so i put a new lump in it, sweet. then i saw another mk1 cabby with a nearly new roof………………………..you get the picture

so i now find myself over run with projects, the latest being a tintop ( 1st one!! ) and cant make my mind up on what to do., the most profitable option would be to strip it down and make a great deal of money on the parts, but i dont want to do that as i have put a lot of time and effort into the project and it would make a truly special car when complete but i need the space and the money so thought i would offer it on here and see what response there is


lowered, uprated brakes, 15'' alloy wheels as the originals do not go over the bigger front brake discs, replacement driveshafts, custom built speaker shelf, NEW radiator, silly mk2 big bumper kit was removed and replaced by original bumpers, mk2 grill removed and replaced by original, any cracked headlights/rear lights were replaced, excellent dash and door panels with all the knobs switches etc in place, centre consol with one clock and two vag blanking plates, no old alarm/immolbiliser wires or anything that shouldnt be behind the dash, good carpets, etc etc

Things to do

gearbox replacement, new outer skin on roof as the front creases have started to tear in the usual place
