83 VW GOLF MK1 GTI SCHWARZ BLACK 1.8 115K MOT 12/12 Tax 3/12

A rare, unique and unexpected opportunity has arisen to purchase what is probably one of the finest MK1 GTI Golfs currently available in the country, due to genuine personal reasons. This car is an unmolested, original and exceptional car with a remarkable provenance (one lady owner from 1989 to 2009) and is probably one of only a few left, that is used on a daily basis and having won many Concours awards in the last two seasons. The car which has all original panels and no welding was subject to a bare shell respray by WagenWheels, early GOLF GTI Specialist near Southampton (1/2 hour from my home) in 2009/2010 and was recommissioned by WagenWheels to my exacting specification and a perfectionist finish, as a reliable practical classic suitable as a daily driver, having lost my Company Car! It was so good that I decided to show it all around the country travelling to numerous shows during the last 2 years. The car has been maintained over the last 2 years with no expense spared and with regular servicing at every 6 months.

As well as a respray the car was treated with Dinitrol on the chassis and in the cavities. This truly is a magnificent car in exceptional condition that would be irreplaceable as an ultra reliable daily driver. The following work was carried out to enable it to be more driveable as a classic car and everything is returnable to original if required. It has also been kitted out with numerous period accessories which give it that 80's feel! The performance of the car is also exceptional with its original standard engine delivering at least the power that it left the Wolfsburg factory with in 1983, having achieved a 16 second quarter mile at Santa Pod in 2010! All electrics work including the MFA!

The pictures show many of the guises that the car has appeared in at shows in the last 2 years, although for the purposes of this sale the car will be shod with the original Tarantula Alloys. The Chequered Bra has been sold but the Heckblende is available.

I'm happy to drive the car up to 150 miles to show the car to genuine buyers only, as I'm based on the South Coast!
