VW Golf Mk1 GTI Cabriolet 'Sportline'

Concours condition GTI Sportline, fastidiously maintained and lightly restored with original VAG parts regardless of cost. The last of the Mk1 Golf's and arguably the most desirable was handmade by Karmann in Germany with electric hood, Recaro seats and black BBS RA alloy wheels (specifically for the Sportline) as standard.

This particular Sportline has some rare dealer extra's such as German market leather Sportline steering wheel, 3 x VDO gauge cluster( of oil temp, oil pressure and battery voltage), red wool pile interior carpet and lastly the iconic red trimmed GTI grille- which was amazingly not standard in 1991.

Since my ownership the car has been 'lightly restored' which comprises of a new VAG steering rack, front wishbones, springs, dampers, top mounts and all associated bushes. This has transformed the car to 'as new' with pin sharp steering and a supple yet sporty ride exactly as VW would have engineered.

As an extra precaution the fuel filler neck, petrol tank, fuel pump and associated piping have also been replaced with VAG parts to ensure complete reliability and longevity.

The paint work is original and flawless, other than some light stone chipping on the bonnet, and the car sports the period correct Sportline decals and arch protectors which are becoming increasingly hard to find. The Recaro interior is unmarked, not faded and completely original. The BBS RA's have been powder coated and the rims polished, and are unblemished.The original black vinyl tonneau cover and unused space saver wheel are included with the car and interestingly so is the original VW Golf Cabriolet range sales brochure and options list from 1991.

With a new insulated and lined electrically operated mohair hood, heated washer jets, powerful heater and 'Windschott' wind deflector the Sportline can be enjoyed all year round in the UK climate.

A beautiful and appreciating classic Mk1 GTI ready for the summer show season.

First registered 1991, 12 months MOT and taxed until September 2010. Full service history with all MOT certificates, last service at 113k miles in February 2010. £5295.
