 Description:

You may have seen this car for sale before. Well here it is again but with a lower price. I am really looking to get rid - I am now four weeks into Uni and do not need the car anymore, so if you would like to make me a cheeky offer I would be happy to consider it.

This is a lovely 4 door Golf GL with a 1.5 engine (this means it falls into the cheap tax group) and 4 speed gearbox. The car has 5 months remaining MOT and tax and should have no problems with it's next MOT.

I have only had the car for about four months but in this time I have driven around 5000 miles and use it daily on varying lengths of trip. I have had no problems beside a failed coil which has now been replaced and the car runs perfectly. Both mechanically and structurally this car is in fantastic condition and it's very low milage from new is evident.

I bought the car from it's fourth owner. Prior to him I believe the car was kept in the same family for a long time. This is backed up by many documents including the complete original owners hand books, service schedule, original logbook from new and perhaps most interesting, the original bill of sale from Leathwoods VW in Croydon. Matching Leathwoods dealer number plates are still on the car.

The car still retains it's original colour - LA1V Sand Metallic. All of the interior paint is original and the exterior has benefitted from a respray in the original colour. There are a few small areas of flaking but this only reveals the original paint underneath. Some of the trim clips need replacing as it is loose in places but this will cost the new owner about £3 and 10 minutes time.

There is absolutely no rust on the car. The underside is amazing. The inner wings are original gold paint and there is factory under-seal everywhere. It is really really solid. The previous owner re-coated all of the underside with tectyl (rust preventative) and the coat is still thick and will preserve the condition of the car for a long time to come. There is a slight damp patch in the boot which has caused the paint to bubble a tiny bit - this could be dried out and sanded and it would be fine.

The inside of the car is like a time warp… all totally original, rare brown dash and matching brown wolfsburg steering wheel both in mint condition, no rips, tears, major stains to any of the upholstery, even the drivers seat is hardly worn, the back seat is like no one has ever sat in it! Headliner, carpets, door cards etc etc are all present and correct and in fantastic condition. The radio could do with being changed as it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't - it is something to do with the faceplate clip - but you could get one very cheaply.

As you can see from the photographs, the car has had two ride heights. It was originally lowered with a set of coilovers and a set of custom made lazer cut 'lowering plates' on the rear which relocate the stub axe 50mm higher up. However, this was extremely low and I found it slightly impractical when it came to getting over speedbumps. However, if this car is not for inner city driving it looks brilliant and corners much better. It is up to the buyer how the car will be configured for sale - It is a quick and easy job swapping the suspension round and can be done in about two hours.

All the spare and original parts removed from the car will be included in the sale - this includes alternate suspension, carburettor/air filter and a few other bits.

Previous to me owning the car its had:
- Cam belt
- New rear wheel cylinders
- New rear shoes
- New front pads
- Rear of exhaust
- Fitted a NOS original weber carb and K&N air filter.
- All full service parts new including HT Leads, plugs, distributor cap, rotor arm, points, condenser, oil and filter change
- All new fuel lines fitted
- New sachs complete clutch kit, fitted less than 6000 miles ago by a qualified VW specialised mechanic.

Since purchasing the car:
- New coil
- New plugs, distributor cap, rotor arm, points, condenser, oil and filter change.

The car has needed nothing else.

Just to clarify in accordance with the template, the Fuel filler neck and surround, Sills, Arches, Inner arches, front and rear panels (The bits under the bumpers) and scuttle are all in excellent condition with no major signs of corrosion. This will not require welding anytime soon.

This is a gem of a car and there are very few Mk.1 Golfs left in this unmodified and very original condition. If you have any further questions or would like more information then I am available on my mobile listed above. I would also not be averse to a swap for a cheap runaround with some cash my way.

I am in Edenfield in Bury near Manchester, delivery is possible, but ideally viewing is recommended here. I am free almost any time so please contact me to arrange this. If I do not answer then leave a message or text and I will get back to you.
