wing wing....wing wing... anyone there!

Evening all,

I am in need of a set of front wings for the build.

I have pattern parts on our cabby at the mo, and the fit isn't too bad - will a good body shop be able to sort this or would genuine wings be a better bet?
I know that genuine is better, but I am on a budget, while still needing them to sit correctly.

thanks
Matt

Really depends on where the fit is not to bad and how good your body shop is. Any pictures of the gaps/fit?

Panel gaps are not that bad, but you can tell they are not fitted correctly. My bodywork guys is top notch (and therefore not cheap!) so i am weighing up either getting him to fit patterns well, or buy genuine.

I am having this debate also.  After 3 years of welding and filling I am almost ready for new wings.  Pattern or original??  I hear the originals fit really well, no need for fettling.  Advantage of this is that I have not got a body work guy to help me, so will save time and stress (which is a big bonus cose I am tired after the rest of the resto).  The down side is that the vw heritage wings need holes cutting for the bumper bracket.  Other down side is £200 per side and the thought of cutting a hole into 400 quid is not pleasant.

Pros of pattern panels….cost is the main one.  Save £300.  But will they will require fettling to fit.  Stressssss.

Any thoughts?  Has anyone got experience with both pattern and original panels?
