Windscreen Fitting

Has anyone refitted their windscreen on a MK1?
Any tips on refitting.
I've removed mine (after market replacement) and found that a sealant had been applied under the rubber seal.
Should a sealant be required under a new rubber going into a clean rust free aperture?

Sealant should not be required.

Use a nylon builder's line to ease the rubber over the lip.  If you need to lubricate use a little car shampoo NOT washing up liquid as it is full of SALT
