Window Seals

Hi

The outer window seals on my driver and passanger wondows are in two halves which join on the upright, however there is a half inch gap where the two join and when it rains/wash car the door panel fill sup with water.

I have seen other MK1's with this gap - has anyone found a solution to filling the gap? I'm sure I've seen on other cars a kind of connector - does anyone know what I can do? I've just replaced door cards and waxoiled and dont want these door cards to get ruined also.

thanks
matt

Every golf I've every seen has had this gap

isn't that why the bottom of the doors have drain holes & behind the door card is a protective membrane?  :dontknow:

I was looking up some old part numbers and trim information for the 76 i am building.

The part that connects the 2 pieces of trim is shown on the diagrams. Not sure whats available yet - but have the print outs at work.

I will post up the part number of them/call the dealer to see if they are available and let you guys know tomorrow  :)

On the new seals i got from GPC they were overlength which meant i could cut them to fit perfectly with no gap at all - maybe worth while replacing them - not a big job either  8)

door seals of any kind arnt made to cut down, they are oversized for a reason, you are supposed to really force them in usually in the corners

unless their 3foot too long that is

I did buy new bottom seals but the upright was too short and doesnt meet the top seal already in place hence the gap!
