Window seals advice on MK1 Cabbie please! Wont shut properly
just got myself a 1985 cab, over the moon! its in great nick and for a reasonable price.
one problem i'm having is that when i shut the doors, the windows do not go under the rubber trim at the top, instead they stay on top leaving a rather nasty gap ! from the outside i have to give the windows a push when closing the doors (not that much of an issue) but it's closing them from inside which is starting to annoy me!!
i have looked around and can't find any previous threads…so if anyones had this problem with their cab then please help!
cheers.

From experience all the seals are stupidly expensive new from VW, so i'd favour bodging the old ones if you can.
I think I have a similar problem but not as extreme, it only affects me with wind noise, and it is a case of opening and shutting the window which I agree is annoying.
Plus if its raining and I get out and back in I always get a wet leg cos the water has broken the door seal!

Under the door there are 2 bolts that adjust the aft and for motion of the windows.
Adjusting the J hooks on the top may help a little to.
Make sure the window channel seal is properly seated too, it's what the glass slides up and down in.

The wired thing with mine is, is that it can be absolutely chucking it down and i get no leaks at all. Then it can be just spitting or if i wash the car and i notice a few drops near the top of the doors. WIERD !!!
hope you solve it !!
