Which Knob?

What is the correct gear knob for my cabby sportline?  Mines got one of these after market thingies on and it's like changing gear with a cricket ball :x

I'm wondering the same! Not sure if the sportline had a special one and a bit of a different gator?

Its bound to be one of those "haven't a hope in hell of finding" things.

There are two sportlines for sale on ebay but neither of the interior pictures show anything clear enough.  Looks like they've been modded anyway.

Got the original steering wheel so i'm half way there.

Well i've had a surf around today and by the looks of it, it is the one in your pic Ross.  Theres not a great deal out there about the Sportline and when you do find somethind no-one seems to take a photo with their knob in it 8O

Looks to me like it's a stitched leather one :dontknow:    Is it a late model mk2 one :dontknow:

Can anyone enlighten us on this?

btw had a chat with a friend of a friend that works for vw and he said he would have a look on the vw computer about this.  He also said dont hold your breath  

If anything comes back I'll post it

Ross, i've got a late Mk2 gear knob knocking around, I'll bring it along tomorrow (if I remember  :wink: )

Don't worry. Ian's spare was the same one as the one I have already which I think is wrong!

Check out the gear knobs on my website - got an incling the non golf ball one was originally on the sportline but not got strong evidence.

Thats the one I have, but it looks like its a different knob in the pics I posted earlier. :dontknow:

Was going to fit it and post a pic,  But do you think I could get that other thing off?  Could I hell!  It is fixed on with rounded off grub screws  :roll:    Have to wait till weeekend and then drill them out.
