Where to find parts for sunroof?
Although I registered at this forum, I do not drive a Golf mkI. Actually I drive a Volvo 360 GLE from 1986.
My question concerns the sunroof from my Volvo, which is the same Golde as used in the Golf mkI (and perhaps mkII?) and bug 1303.
My sunroof doesn't work properly. When I slide it to the back it makes scratches on the outside metal plate. By the way, excuse me for my english, I'm from the Netherlands…
I noticed that the parts used in the sunroof are mainly from plastic, and look like half broken, damaged. Now I'd like to aqcuire some new fresh parts to fit in it, but Volvo doesnt have these parts anymore. Where can I find/order the small plastic parts for my sunroof? Who knows an adress?
Thanks in advance,
regards,

MK2 Golf has slide only roof , same fittings as tilt slide .
My advice find a scrap MK2 take out the complete sunroof assembly , you will need the handle and winder behind it . Rip out tilt and slide , plop new Mk2 roof in . You may need to have the panel painted to match your car [tilt roof has different fittings inside] but thats the easy bit .
I have just done this to my MK1 . This assumes that the Volvo roof is from the VW/Audi parts bin ? Drop a picture on the site if you are not sure . we can have a look .
Cheers ……………

They quite often get scratched when the siffener gets bent under the roof skin. Someone bangs the roof ot puts a heavy box on it causing the stiffener to bend
I think that's exactly what happened. As you can see the white plastic parts (are those the siffeners?) are already 'cracked'.

Get in there and straighten it and all will be well - cheers Rich
