Where did you get your project?

Hi, hopefully next month I'll be able to get myself my first project car, I'm looking for a car under 100 quid and hopefully with a big block. Obviously for this price it's going to be a pile of junk but that's ok! I want the hands on experience.

So where did you get your projects and (if you don't mind me asking!) how much did it set you back?

At the moment I'm looking on ebay for a bargain to snatch but not really bothered about the quality of the body, electric or engine as I'll be fixing it up myself over the next year.

E-bay's a bit dodgy IMO - you can end up paying more than you would normally if you get into the bidding, and you don't always get to look at it first.

Well worth going to see what you're getting, even if it is only going for 100 quid…

John, have a sift through the for sale posts here. Someone was selling a small rear light MK1 (Non-Gti) I'm sure (???) they only wanted what they paid for it which was about ?90. Can't recall who it was tho ops:

I paid ?200 for mine of a mate that was using it for spares! body was rotten but the engine+ gearbox was pretty much fine


Here's how it looked after I'd stripped the door's, Bonnet and boot

There are bargains to be had!, last year we bought a 1981 mk1 scirocco gti from its original owner for the pricely sum of ?99! found it in the local paper and had covered 48,000 miles from new, this thing is solid  8)

I bought my mk1 1983 (Y) 1.6 GTi last week for the nice tidy sum of ?235 from a VW/Audi Specialist garage!  It was the owners car which he was going to fix up but he hadn't got time to do it so wanted it out of his workshop.

Car is in great condition as well, no rust on sills, arches!!  Needs a new front offside wing, tailgate and maybe a bonnet.  Engine is running pretty decently but needs a new water pump as it is spraying water at the moment.  

Car is in white and came with full BBS bodykit, BBS 15" wheels.  Interior is in very good condition too but probably needs a good clean.

hello you all, i paid ?250 for my little red rocket 1980 1.6 5speed mars red GTi! its far from concours but everything is where it should be and it all works,in need of full resto which has began last month completely standard except exhaust back box and chrome air intake pipe. Good hunting!

I swapped my a reg 4 door e30 bmw (which had been loved since birth and had every factory fitted extra) with my brother for my mars red soon to be mat black a reg 3 door 1.3 driver. Needed a bit of welding, a coat of paint, mirrors, a head light, wheels and a good home! Im almost up to mot time after ages of perserverance!
 
I think after coming to a deal with the gent who had it for 19 years aside from a few ods n sods the gent wanted for his other one i think the total agreed price was 25 quid! But i went with him to get it ready to pick it up and came home in it and loved it to bits and was charmed into owning it!
And thats my story lol
