whats the fitting in the door that the top of the handle....

Get a picky up of what you mean, it's not too clear as to what actual bit your referring too.

As above, its not clear what you mean. The handle is horizontal, so I'm not sure if you really meant the top of it. The handle is supported by a tab and a screw in the door skin (or frame just behind it) with its shape being close-fitting to the relevant holes, and a couple of grommets shaped to match. Its mechanism operates on the lock/latch but doesn't rely on it for support, if you know what I mean.

he means the top clip for the door pull, that you use to shut the door. gpc sell these, on ebay his username is chubnut.

tip for you when fit/removing the door pull, dont just yank it out the clip! rotate the handle 90 degrees and it pops in/out easy

How blimmin much? VW list them at about 35p each but now obsolete. I used some clip things I found in halfrauds. Cost pence and work better than the originals.
