What would you do?

Just stripped the rear and front end out of my mk1 golf to give it a good clean up.

The wheel arches are really clean (no rust at all) but I'm wondering what to do with them.

Should I:

1. Underseal them with black?

2. keep them original paint colour and maybe give them a fresh top coat?

This is how they are at the moment…

Use an underseal type paint which can be overpainted with top-coat (eg stone chip), then paint them with top coat. I think this is what the standard factory finish would be. The front wheelarches have a plastic lining after approx 1980.

Thanks for that guys.
Undersealed them today with black.
Looks crisp so probably leave it as they are. They'll only get dirty anyway!
Cheers!
