What waterproofing product?

Hi, my cabrio roof is leaking, I've tried Autoglym's treatment but that doesn't seem to work.  What do people use?  Would a camping product for tents be better than a car product??

Damn I hate this weather!!!

is it a plastic roof or mohair?
also is it just generally coming in or at a specific point.
header, side tension cables or rear window frame being common and reproofing wont fix.

If its mohair I have found the autoglym stuff good, as it causes water to bead on top of the mohair. So if youve tried that with not joy, cant see why you couldnt try a reproofer from a camping place, but may be simply time for new roof.

Oh yeah, sorry.  It's a plastic/vinyl roof and leaks just above the small front windows.  If you sit in the car in the rain you can see it dripping from by the handles.  Mostly on the passenger side.  There are no rips or tears in it.  The passenger side door speaker housing is getting the brunt of it.

Dont think reproofing will help.

Easiest place to check is the condition of the header seal and the handles close tight. Worth giving the header seal a good clean making sure no splits and spraying with silicont or rub vaseline in to ensure its supple. Handles should close with a bit of a snap, but dont overtighten.

Bit more difficult is when the front side rubbers are put in place on the roof frame you have to seal with silicone the final few cms. If not enough sealent or none at all the rain can creep in. Best to check the hood fitting guide.

Last one for the time being checkyou have a good alighnment on qtr light and top of roof. You can gently bend that in if reqd.

Might be worth posting a pic of the areas its leaking as well.

also check out the post below about changing the foam that sits behing the side seals. Again more involved but not that difficult, can also use a double layer if you need to pack out. Foam was available for dealers a while back, but any close cell stuff that looked the same would I guess do the same job.
