Hi mate,
Is it a sunroof model?
Could be getting in from behind the dash too… I beleive it's where some corrossion likes to manifest itself… can't remember where exactly someone said it comes in though… failing that check all seals… sunroof seal.. door seals etc and see if any are perished :dontknow:

Your right spud, it's the drain holes under the scuttle panel, normally get full of leafs etc and block up the water runs down the inside. watch the fuse box. Poor door seals too. I would go round and clear all the drain holes in the door bottoms also.

is it front or back, left of right or both, is water in sills? have you had the ariel removed from front wing, if so water may come from there and downside of panel i.e at side of fusebox, is it coming from under dash from above, best way to tell if windscreen seal is the outer air vet plastic piping will have water droplets on them as there is only 2 places from top part of dash it can come as there is a channel on either side, one directly over fusebox, otherside over the piping connected to drivers side vent.
Your best to have the carpet out for a couple of week and look excactly where the water is coming from, this will make it easier to eliminate certain areas.
Problem you have is whilst carpet is still in the foam underneath collects the water so when driving it will go back and forth from front to backk and spreads all over floor pan and looks like it comes from everywhere, so not giving you accurate answer.
So save your pennies and remove carpet first and watch is the best answer, then makes easier to find and resolve instead of buying things that might not be needed.
When you remove carpet, trust me it is alot easier to spot and correct

After taking out the carpets, lightly sprinkle talcum powder around the Areas, you will see track marks as the water rolls down, OK it may not cure the leak but at least your car will smell nice.

hi there can anybody point me in the right direction of where I could get some replacement soundproofing to go under my carpet. I stripped out the carpet today to try and track down a mystery leak but aborted the mission due to the snow but the soundproofing in the front foot wells was soaked and a bit worse for wear.

you can buy it from a good motor factors, but people have used the FELT type of carpet underlay. you may need to cut it to fit, big pair of sharp scissors.
hope this helps

thanks for the advice I am just going to run the car without the carpet or soundproofing for a while but I have noticed that Newton commercial do a kit for ?25 pound so I think i will invest in a set. Also when I removed the old soundproofing I was chuffed to see no rot in the floor pan which was one of my worries waiting for some better weather and then I can hopefully track down the mystery leak.
