Vandals!

Hello!


My pride and joy has been damaged by some rapscallions in my area, where they appear to have have chipped a large amount of paintwork off my rear wing. The damage is so the paint is no longer, and the metal has been exposed and now starting to rust.

Is there anywhere in the Eastbourne / Hastings area that anyone could recommend I get this dealt with? I don't trust myself to do a decent job of it…

Sounds nasty mate. On the plus side it shouldn't be too difficult to sort out. All you need is a garage and a weekend. Toughest job is to get the colour match right but that depends on the colour of your car, some are easier to match than others.

Cool, thanks for that. I believe its Alpine White, I need to double check though. Do you think it'll be a pricey job? Sorry, this is my first golf!!!

Unfortunately, in the area I live, people don't seem to appreciate the beauty of a clipper!! I've even had my dust caps stolen! Expensive black plastic ones, lol…

Seriously these though 'dust caps' you're talking about are they the valve dust caps or center caps.

Sorry to hear that.

When I had the TVR my alloy dust caps would last a week tops before some scum bag would pinch them. Gave up in the end and bought the standard plastic ones. Their other favorite thing was to let your tyres down, guess it's better than having them slashed but a real PITA.

Is it "just" paint or have they also dented it?

they are lil scum bags, was waiting with my dad for a lift of my mate back to barracks the other week in hotel car park and some lil toe rags between age of 7-13 tried nicking some valave caps of an m5! i soon scared them off.

would give it some basic treatment for now as you dont want the rust to get any worse. as jobs like that can soon be forgot about.

I'd do the same, if I saw anyone vandalising someone else's car or stealing something! It's not on!

I'm quite scared about getting my roof slashed or something.

It really takes the piss, because it's petty things there isn't much you can do about it. Police aren't likely to care.
Fortunately they haven't dented it, it's literally the paint that has been taken off with whatever they did to it. (It was the valve caps they took..!)

So disheartening to discover someone has messed with your car though!

The trouble with "having a go at them" these days, if the news is to believed, is the number who carry knives. However much you love your car, it is only a car so is it worth the risk? Also from what you hear you're as likely to get in to trouble, mad!
