us windscreen??

Hello, first post here and looking for advice already.

I had a crack in my 1992 us model windscreen. Called my VW dealer to be told they got one in stock. Dropped the car off and got a call of them a couple of hours later saying that the us model has a different windshield.
I have never heard of this before.
Can anyone shed light on this?
