Underseal

Hi,

I need to get all the underseal off my car ready for sandblasting. The car has black underseal on top of the original yellowy vw underseal. I started by spinning the car over and soaking the underseal with white spirit and leaving it over night. After 2 hours scraping this is what I have now….  8O

The black stuff is coming off ok with a metal scraper, but is hardly touching the thick stuff under the wheel arches, exhaust tunnel and spare wheel well.  :dontknow:  :banghead:  What methods have you guys used to remove yours?  :D

Cheers jamie

I used a heat gun and a scraper then used wire wheels in a drill to get it completely back to bare metal. The wire wheels also removed the thicker stuff as well quite well.

ok i have a question why do you need to remove the underseal before sand blasting.
would'nt sand blasting remove the lot anyway?

The underseal is thick rubbery and uneven, I was thinking that it will be much better for the car and blaster by removing it 1st. Hopefully minimising any panel damage.
