tow bar

hey just new to the forum and was womdering does anyone know where to get a tow bar for my mk1.

I got one 2nd hand off ebay mate, not sure you can get them new anymore, unless you have one specially made

i looked through e-bay and the web there all day till i was blue in the face. i thought they would of been an easy enough thing to find cos of the massive following of the mk1. how wrong was i!! out comes the welder then! cheers...

if it helps you any, mine bolts in the same as the rear bumber does - inside the chassis leg, and has a bar the width of the car, with the tow hook in the middle, it doesnt go under the car like more  modern bars.  I can get you a photo at some point if you need it

i got one off crazy quiff a while back. as far as i can remember it needed to be bolted to the sub frame or summat. the guy that fitted it said it was a pain in the rear anyway!

The Mk1 Golf doesn't have a subframe.

im having a think at  the mo about future business plans, towbar may be up for sale soon if your interested, I'll get you some pics tommorow

I enquired about this late last summer after the AGM.

There is a place in St Albans, Herts that can make them up for you. Its a bit of a price but you get a new one.
